VNG is a test that uses goggles fitted with infrared cameras to measure the function of you vestibular system and eye movements. VNG is considered the gold standard in examining vestibular function. Balance problems, dizziness and ocular motor dysfunction can be assessed through VNG, as well as helping to examine many central brain issues. During the test the patient will wear the goggles as the cameras measure the eyes while they are put through a series of eye exercises, as well as different head and body positions.
VNG can be used as a good functional baseline test for concussion prevention and later assessment, because abnormalities in eye motion are one of the most indicative signs for concussions.
